About Brian C. Baker
Director of Collections and Education

As the Director, Brian oversees the vast collection of historic Corvettes, artifacts, and histories surrounding the 70 years of this American icon. Additionally, he leads the development of the Education Gallery and related outreach activities across the nation and world. Preservation of this collection and sharing the stories of the people who create it and enthusiast who support it, are his priority. Finding and retelling of the legends and facts that have make Corvette America’s sports car for generations to come, is his mission.

Mr. Baker’s automotive career spans decades as a GM Design Sr. creative team manager and as V.P. of Education and Principal Historian at the Automotive Hall of Fame, V.P. of Design and Marketing at American Specialty Cars. His experience includes work in Europe, India, Japan, and South Korea. He shares his global experience as a creator of vehicles and a caretaker of mobility’s past and future.

At the College for Creative Studies in Detroit he taught automotive design and history of the industrial revolution to present day for more than thirty years. He represents major automakers as an expert witness in design patent issues. He was president of the Michigan Leyland chapter of the Society of Automotive Historians for more than seven years. He led the development of an award-winning book on GM’s first one hundred years called Driving Style.

Brian’s career has also included work for the Discovery Channel as an assistant producer and on-camera expert and for ESPN as an automotive historian and analyst. He is a regular contributor as a writer, editor, and book developer.

He fulfilled one of his childhood dreams when he worked on a top ten IndyCar team at the Indianapolis 500 in the early ninety’s. He is fortunate to drive the Chevrolet SSR he helped design as a daily driver. He and Julie have been married for 33 years and have two sons and two dogs. His personal fleet includes a 71 Riviera and three convertibles.
