A key aim for vehicle owners and stewards is, among other things, to pass on cultural heritage in a physical form to future generations, while safeguarding a vehicle’s current use and respecting its social and spiritual importance, thereby protecting its intangible aspects. To achieve these goals within the car community measures and activities are implemented that often result in documentation and research (provenance), preservation, restoration, as well as participation in multi-faceted events that engage the senses and fulfill the undeniable joy that vehicles bring. However, how do we connect the cultural and historical significance of the automobile beyond this community and spark passion in the hearts and minds of self-proclaimed “non car people?” Through the scientific power of storytelling, we have the ability to deeply connect the human spirit to the indelible importance of the automobile.
