Attendees will enjoy lunch at The Marina at Edison Ford, directly on the Caloosahatchee River. You will then take a short walk to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, one of the most popular historic sites in the United States. Attendees will enjoy seeing Edison and Ford’s historic winter homes, the Edison Botanical Research Lab, and the 15,000 square foot Edison Ford Museum on more than 20 acres of botanic gardens. Automotive Curator, James Moss, provides a new perspective on the evolution of Ford's automobiles. Learn about production and how to operate a Ford Model T. From the Quadricycle to the Ford Model A, the Ford Motor Company and beyond, the Automotive Talk promises to offer a new way to connect with one of their most popular collections. Curatorial Registrar, Matt Andres, provides insight into the lives of famous inventor Thomas Edison and automobile industrialist Henry Ford in Florida. Participants will acquire a greater understanding of their Fort Myers estates while touring the historic winter homes and tropical gardens of the Edison & Ford families. Each major historic structure has ADA accessibility, and visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable summer attire, closed toe shoes, sunscreen, and bring or purchase water. Flash photography is allowed. Please note that the Edison and Ford Winter Estates does not permit smoking on the property. You will return to the hotels by about 4 PM.
