Combustion, Exhaustion, and the Law: Copyright and the Automobile Museum

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

This session focuses on the many US copyright issues that automobile museums and libraries need to address. Dr. Crews will define copyright, what materials are protected, the rights of the copyright holder and users, registering works, and length of copyright. Particular focus will be on orphan works, items which are still in copyright but the holder cannot be located. What legal and monetary concerns should a museum consider if it wants to make reproductions available? What steps should a museum follow if it is challenged for a copyright violation? Finally, he will explain the role of the new Copyright Claims Board in settling copyright disputes.
